COTA Tasmania (Council on the Aging) is the leading voice for Tasmanians as they age, and has been in existence for 60 years. They promote changes to our systems and culture so that all Tasmanians can age well.
Access this free Estate and Advance Care Planning Guide by COTA here. This is a guide to documenting your wishes in legal form.
If you would like a hard copy of this guide sent to you in the post, please get in touch with COTA at admin@cotatas.org.au
COTA Tasmania also works with Legal Aid to make available the ‘Senior Assist’ program. This program is a team of lawyers and case managers providing free legal advice, help and support to seniors who are experiencing, or at risk of elder abuse.
Legal Aid Clinics are held at COTA Tasmania (in both Hobart and Launceston), offering free, private and confidential appointments. These sessions run regularly:
Hobart: 10am to noon on the first Wednesday of every month except January.
Launceston: 10am to noon on the third Thursday of every month except January.
If you would like to attend a session but can’t make it in person, you can be offered a phone consultation or advised of other options if you contact COTA on the email address above.
More useful resources for seniors can be found on the Legal Aid Senior Assist website.
