This event is open to all members of the public as a part of Law Week Tasmania 2024.
The event will feature WLST social worker, Pia, senior lawyer, Jade, who together run a fortnightly clinic in the Mary Hutchinson’s Women’s Prison, and a lived experience advocate who will be attending as a special guest speaker.
Some of the themes touched on by the event include barriers and issues that women in custody or leaving custody may face, the impacts of trauma and the importance of integrated trauma-informed practice, the intersections between family violence and criminality, and how to best support women in these contexts.
